The 2024 Federal Budget was released on April 16, 2024 with particular attention being given to housing, affordability and economic growth.
“Some promising moves, but we’re not seeing the urgency or level of detail that we need to address immediate affordability challenges,” said VCC's Meaghon Reid in response to the budget when speaking with the Calgary Herald.
With Calgary's vacancy rate expected to dip below 1.1% this year, the timeline is concerning. “We were really pleased with the housing investments . . . the urgency of building new housing just can’t be overstated,” said Reid.
