Challenge Poverty YYC

Calgary influencers met with community partners who have first-hand knowledge of what it’s like to live in poverty

3 October 2018

The Challenge Poverty YYC campaign aimed to change the way Calgarians think and feel about poverty. Through hearing first-hand stories of people with lived experience of poverty and being unhoused, Challenge Poverty YYC aimed to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and build empathy.

Lived experience guides the Enough for All Strategy

The voices of lived experience of poverty are critical to informing the implementation of the Enough for All poverty reduction strategy. We recognize how the levers of change may express themselves uniquely for Indigenous peoples, women, newcomers, seniors, youth, and 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals in the community. Calgarians with lived experience of poverty have unique insights to share and are important in shaping the policies, practices and services that influence well-being.
