It’s important to value the insights and expertise of individuals with lived experience of poverty and consider how you can imbed the voices of lived experience in the work you do. These individuals offer unique perspectives and should be included in decision-making processes, policy development, and program design and implementation. Engaging people with lived expertise is also crucial for building empathy, challenging misconceptions, and promoting a better understanding of poverty. It is also important to compensate individuals for their time and contributions to address financial barriers and show appreciation for their involvement.
